Day 1 | 1:00 PM

Picturesque Coastline and Citrus Fields - A World Apart

Kanagawa Prefecture’s Odawara City has long flourished as a prominent post town of the Tokaido route – one of the historic routes linking Edo (modern-day Tokyo) in the east with Kyoto in the west. It has also long been loved by political, business, and cultural elites as a site for their country villas. Today accessible from Tokyo in just 30 minutes by Shinkansen, Odawara is blessed with rich mountains, clear rivers, and majestic seaside. It is also dotted with cultural heritage sites like Odawara Castle, and a sense of history permeates the city, making it a popular tourist destination for visitors both domestic and international.

Odawara Castle, long known as an impregnable fortress, commands a scenic landscape

In addition to the seafood bounties of Sagami Bay, Odawara’s warm climate also yields a variety of agricultural produce such as plums and mandarin oranges. Its western Enoura area also offers a scenic otherworldly atmosphere, attested to by the fact that famous samurai lord Hideyoshi Toyotomi commissioned Sen no Rikyu (the father of Japanese tea ceremony) to establish a tea room there. German architect Bruno Julius Florian Taut also hailed the area as “the riviera of the East.” Nearby Nebukawa Station on the Tokaido Line also offers such panoramic views of cerulean sea and sky that it is ranked as one of the 100 most beautiful stations of the Kanto region.

Even the toponym “Enoura” derives from the meaning “picturesque coast”

Day 1 | 1:30 PM

Face Yourself in Odawara Art Foundation Enoura Observatory

The plan also includes an opportunity to visit Enoura’s art power spot, Enoura Observatory. Advance reservations are required for this popular facility. However, with this exclusive accommodation package, all ticket arrangements will be handled for you. Those wishing to visit before check-in at Rimon may arrange for a Rimon staff member to pick them up by car.

Enoura Observatory is an art space designed by contemporary artist Hiroshi Sugimoto over a period of more than 20 years on a former mandarin orange orchard. Its iconic features include the Winter Solstice Light-Worship Tunnel, and the Summer Solstice Light-Worship 100-Meter Gallery, through which sunlight shines directly on the mornings of the Winter and Summer Solstices, respectively. The observatory also includes stages of stone and optical glass, a teahouse, a garden, a gate, etc. Architectural art, some of which incorporate archaeological relics and other old materials, can be found on the site.

The facility was named an “observatory” in keeping with the concept of “checking your own place in the universe,” and it has served as a power spot where visitors can deeply experience and ponder their own existences. Gaze quietly out at the sea and lose yourself in thought, accompanied only by the sounds of trees, birds, and the wind. Experience the moving luxury of surrendering to existence on a grand scale and accepting yourself in stillness.

Day 1 | 3:00 PM

A Deep Healing Wellness Resort — An Exclusive Sanctuary in Harmony with Nature

Disembarking at Nebukawa Station and climbing a small hill brings you to Enoura Retreat Hotel Rimon, nestled in vast fields of citrus. Rimon is a wellness retreat based on the concept of “return to one’s true self,” nourishing and healing its guests mind and body. It aims to allow guests to settle their restless thoughts and release their physical tension, meeting themselves anew in the morning as if reborn, offering this deep healing through meticulously curated meals, hot springs, and sleep.

The facility melds into the surrounding nature with the atmosphere of a hideaway

Rimon’s approach to management also emphasizes coexistence with nature, never forgetting that even the building itself will eventually return to nature. Natural wood is incorporated not only into the structure but into such details as the dining tables, amenities trays, and pencils. It emphasizes sustainability and harmony with nature through the use of diatomaceous earth walls with their excellent moisture absorption, windless panel shades that adjust to the room’s ambient temperature through the flow of cold and hot water, and environmentally-friendly non-toxic cleaning agents.

The welcoming aroma of natural wood in a curving design of curves and natural airflow

Step into the facility to find yourself in a world apart from the hustle and bustle of the daily grind, connected to the depth of an endless blue ocean. Begin with a welcome drink of herbal tea and fresh pesticide-free citrus fruits. The fields outside bring forth 25 different types of fruit, including mandarin oranges and lemons, ensuring the freshest citrus of each season of your visit – a joy unique to Rimon.

Guest rooms feature both herbal teas and Rimon’s unique blend of coffee by local specialty roaster, Hina Coffee

Day 1 | 3:30 PM

Inner Bliss Born of the Sounds of Waves and Nature

Rimon offers four guest rooms, all of which are designed with privacy in mind. In this Wabunka plan, you will stay in a corner quad with a tranquil calming expanse in the back. Since the hotel is designed for maximum quality time with yourself amidst the chirping of birds, wind, and other sounds of nature, no rooms are equipped with TVs or tablets. Let your mind unwind as you gaze over the tranquil sea.

All rooms are designed to “heal the body and relax the mind”

Smooth and soft indoor wear made from 100% organic cotton, including socks made from virgin cotton, are provided during the stay. These socks – which can be taken home after your stay – are popular for their soft thread and comfortable non-constrictive fit, and many guests purchase additional pairs at the hotel’s gift shop. The beds are custom made, with twice the thickness of the usual “&Free” model beds from longstanding popular bedding manufacturer Nishikawa. Maximum quality sleep is a high priority at Rimon.

Day 1 | 4:00 PM

Hot Spring Therapy and Meals to Nourish and Heal from Within

Be sure to try the LeFuro Toji Mineral Mist Bath, one of Rimon’s many unique features. This special hot spring treatment involves lying on therapeutic mineral stones in a room filled with mist produced by patented “Air Supplement” technology for healthy sweating, blood circulation, and detoxification.

Rimon’s main dining room exudes a magical atmosphere a night, for exceptional leisurely dinners

In a dining room overlooking the bay, enjoy creative course meals of Japanese cuisine incorporating concepts from Ayurveda. Each dish is full of seasonal local organic produce from Odawara farmers, bursting with aromas and flavors that delight the senses.

Day 2 | 8:00 AM

Start Your Day With Rimon’s Seasonal Morning Feast

Breakfast nourishes the body with a healthy lineup of seasonal blessings, a popular draw for Rimon guests. Start your day by gently reawakening your body from your therapeutic rest, recharging yourself for a new journey.

Rimon guests frequently celebrate the breakfast as better than any other hotel’s they’ve ever stayed at

Return to Nature and be Reborn

The tranquility of Enoura Retreat Rimon is a liberation from the daily grind, and a precious chance for quality time with yourself. Soothe yourself body and mind in luxury with the LeFuro hot spring treatment, and nourish yourself with delicious local seasonal fare. Connect with time and space on a cosmic scale at the Enoura Observatory, plumbing feelings that put you into deeper touch with your own existence.

Leave the hectic workaday world behind and surrender to time and space by the sea

The name “Rimon” is made of kanji characters meaning “dignity” and “gate,” calling upon an image of passing through life with a dignified bearing. It is also an allusion to rebirth. This is a trip that goes beyond mere sightseeing, with a special retreat experience in dialogue with yourself, nature, and art. Slough off your old skin and breathe in fresh air that lets you return to your life anew.
