Savor the Delightful Flavors of Kyoto's Cuisine
In this unique experience, you are invited to indulge in a kaiseki dinner in the presence of geisha from Kyoto's main Hanamachi district. Set within the intimate ambiance of an ozashiki, a ceremonial tatami room used for special occasions such as gatherings with geisha, your experience begins with the establishment's signature dish. Arashiyama Kumahiko's hospitality mirrors the essence of Kyoto-style cuisine, intricately woven with the delicate flavors of the changing seasons, taking your taste buds on a journey through the natural landscapes of Arashiyama.
Arashiyama Kumahiko carefully selects local and seasonal ingredients for their creations. The roots of this culinary tradition can be traced back to Kurisu Kumasaburou, the grandfather of the current owner. He was a pioneer during the early Showa period (1926-1989) of the Itamae-Kappo style of cooking, where the chef prepares dishes in front of diners for an interactive and immersive experience. This culinary technique, characterized by its high level of skill and quality, has since been passed down through generations.
Feel free to savor the dishes at your own pace, accompanied by a welcome drink of your choice, which includes sake. (You can also order additional drinks and settle the bill on-site.)
