Located in Tango in northern Kyoto Prefecture, Amanohashidate has long inspired poets, scholars, and travelers. Its 3.6 kilometer sandbar, often called the Bridge to Heaven, stretches across the bay in a graceful line. About 30 minutes away by bus lies the funaya (wooden boathouses) townscape of Ine Fishing Village, recognized as one of Japan’s most picturesque villages. Facing the sea, the wooden boathouses, with boat storage below and living quarters above, offer a glimpse of Japan’s original coastal landscape.

Moments at the Table
Enjoy Kyoto by the Sea Through a Dining Experience Presented by a Top Chef
The cuisine highlights the ingredients of the Tango region, often referred to as Kyoto by the Sea. Seafood such as crab and yellowtail is sourced from nearby ports. Wagyu beef, local chicken, and seasonal vegetables are prepared with care to bring out their character. The menu brings together ideas from Japanese, Western, and Chinese traditions to create dishes that appeal to all five senses.

Dinner and breakfast are served at the on site dining space Kanon, which includes a counter and private rooms. Staff offer warm hospitality while chefs prepare dishes in front of you using the fresh produce and seafood of Amanohashidate. Vegetarian meals are also available.

In winter, dinner features the Brand Live Crab Full Course, with one 0.9 kilogram crab per person. A chef prepares the crab at the counter and guarantees its origin and quality. For an additional fee, you may upgrade to Taiza crab, often regarded as among the finest in Japan. Its gentle sweetness and tender texture are prized and the crabs are delivered directly from the source.

Breakfast
Breakfast features Amanohashidate Koshihikari rice grown by local farmers, a custom blend of Kyoto miso, eggs from Ine Fishing Village, and homemade dried fish. Every dish uses fresh local ingredients to highlight their natural character and provide a nourishing start to the day.

Dinner
Dinner showcases creative ideas that draw from several culinary traditions. Seasonal seafood, vegetables, and agricultural products from the Amanohashidate area take center stage and change throughout the year.
Deepen Your Connection to the Region
Explore Ine Fishing Village on a Private Cruise(Additional Option)
As an optional add-on, Wabunka offers an exclusive private cruise to explore Ine, a fishing village in northern Kyoto Prefecture. Designated as a nationally Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings, this area presents a poetic, nostalgic landscape where the sea and daily life exist in harmony.

Departing from the marina, you will reach Ine Fishing Village in about 30 minutes. Disembark for a close-up guided tour with a local guide and take in the view of Ine Bay from the observation deck. Learn about traditional lifestyles and the significance of the architecture, then return to the boat for the journey back to Amanohashidate.
